that is why professional race drivers do not race with sound systems playing angry loud eurodance or confusing chinese hip hop/initial d beats.
wouldn't it be nice if just for one day, all in-car entertainment systems in the world were turned off? how many innocent lives would be saved in this day?

the mass appeal of the motorcar is becoming that of being able to drive around with a lounge around you. 10-piece cd player, cigarette lighter, cup holder, climate control, armrest, vanity mirrors with lights, instant inflatable pillows if your mobile lounge comes in contact with another vehicle. are these little distractions worth it? as a passenger, it's just about how much legroom you have or whether the side door would give way if you leaned your head onto it.
if you ask me, there should be more 1- and 2-seaters on the roads. how often do you see a motorcar going around with 5 seats utilised by humans? all this waste of precious energy.

at this rate of technology, the term 'driver' may be obsolete by the end of this century. except north korea. just speculating.

on a sidenote, the cars in films of the p. ramlee era didn't have side mirrors! wonder what newton circus was like in yesteryear. but probably, the reason why it's still hazardous to drive there is due to the sheer number of lanes on the circus itself. serangoon gardens don't have no problems like that. hum.
