came across this photo while browsing thru the zaobaonow! papers.. (dun play play. i still read chinese :P)

apparently, 300 horsies are being shot in the head every year in Macau for being somewhat incompetent and old for the raceturfs. cruel of course, but that's life as usual in places such as these i guess - the rich are filthy rich, the poor are, well, downright poor.

cruel indeed, but there's no choice. i can't imagine kit chan and emil chau hugging a frail horse whose face you can't tell from its arse and using the slogan 'when the betting stops, the killing will, too..'

that's macau for you. such is life©.

i'd love to take such pictures when i grow up.. where every assignment is interesting, captivating & possibly, somewhat vile...
